The Anvil, Bournemouth

Karma To Burn

No Worth Of Man are an odd choice of an opener, being a Deathcore band. A bass-less trio with a tight drummer and a guitarist playing a “Destroy/Erase/Improve” era Meshuggah sound, they’re actually very good, but they were on the wrong bill. Also their names a bit too long, Short and punchy folks!

Local rockers Dead Lettuce continue their quest to deliver Blues for the Black Hole Sun (see what I did there!). With their always tight mix of Kyuss riffs and early Soundgarden loud and lithe rhythms. Shout their name at everything that moves as they should be better known.

OK, send your Liver to the bunker, West Virginia’s Karma To Burn, are here with their potent moonshine of big hooky rhythms that move hips, shoulders and feet. An instrumental band, the only words spoken are when guitarist Will Mecum announces, “We don’t do fucking requests!”. They then proceed to rock everyone’s socks off and show Bournemouth for the fourth time why they don’t need a vocalist. It’s all a big boozy hillbilly hoe down and a raging hangover for the next day. Long may they continue?
