Hope FM Studio, Bournemouth
Kadia are a hard working 3 piece contemporary folk band from Bournemouth who in their short time together have thrilled audiences with notable Festival performances and support slots.
The band’s music centres around the cello of Lee Cuff who uses the instrument to create some real emotion from the bands original story telling songs. Lee is joined by Chris Bailey on acoustic guitar and David Hoyland on an eight string ukulele. The trio back the music with some really top notch harmonies that have to be heard to be believed. They released their debut EP “Beacon Fires” earlier this year, a 5 track CD that was recorded at the Sonic Kitchen Studio in Boscombe, Bournemouth. The fives songs all have some really intriguing stories behind them and if you are lucky enough to see them live you may just get to hear the stories behind them.
The band’s variety of gigs have taken them all over Hampshire and Dorset performing in a large variety of locations such as pubs, Open Mic Sessions, Folk Clubs as well as a gig with Ninebarrow at the Lighthouse in Poole. They have the ability to adapt performing a collection of reworked covers including classics by Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and even Swedish House Mafia much to the delight of their growing audiences. Kadia came along to the Hope Fm, studio for a really engaging evening full of some really great discussion as well as some excellent live music. The band treated myself and Tim Heywood to four numbers including an exclusive first performance of a brand new song called “The Beast Of Bodmin Moor”. The exclusive videos of the session can be seen below.
