Wave Chase

Bournemouth four-piece Indie band Wave Chase have just released their brand new single “Walk The Walk”. The single is taken from their (as of yet) untitled forthcoming EP, which is to be released in the Autumn. It was recorded along with 5 other tracks at “Limesoda Studios” with Jake Trimm and Jamie Eldridge from top local outfit Galaxy Thief in their home town Swanage. The song was heavily inspired by noughties Indie bands such as The Maccabees, The Pigeon Detectives, and The Vaccines.

The band explain “structurally, it’s the first time we have changed up a song. The verses are different and have a contrasting feel, before going back into the familiar” The almost reggae verse after the chorus was heavily inspired by bands such as The Clash who embraced other styles in their work. Itís something we also want to do with our future work. The EP will capture our live set really well and is a good representation to people who havenít yet seen us, or wonít get to see us”. Two of the band, George and Tim are off to British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) to study music shortly and will return to regroup with their bandmates for a hometown show supporting Lauren Hibberd on the 1st of November at the Anvil.

Wave Chase

“Walk The Walk” gives a snapshot of the bands slight changes in direction, thankfully the youthful energy and desire is still there in massive amounts. From the opening infectious rhythms to George’s prominent vocals, the tune is clearly destined for radio play and a host of Spotify compilations. Everything seems to have been notched up a level; the harmonies, the guitar work and the production. There is clearly masses of talent in this band and you can hear it in this song alone, with advancements in all areas. There are obvious influences, but the band are trying to carve out their own original sound. They still have youth on their side having achieved plenty already including festival appearances at Teddy Rocks and Anonymous Festival, along with a host of gigs at major South Coast venues including the legendary Joiners Arms in Southampton. This band are clearly on the right track and this tune is just a taste of things to come in the very near future.
