Our Propaganda

Finally, it’s nearly time for one of Southampton’s premier Rock bands ‘Our Propaganda’ to unleash some brand new music, ahead of their debut album release in 2020. The band formed back in 2012 and have been actively showing off their combined talents since then. They have gigged extensively with performances in half a dozen Countries across Europe; playing countless shows around London and the South of England, including this year’s third consecutive return to rock the stage of Southampton Pride 2019; as well as a very memorable performance in front of 40,000 people at Vladivostokís annual “Amur Tiger Day Festival” in Russia.

The band is gearing up for the single launch with a gig at the 1865 in Southampton on 25th October; with hand-picked supports, local bright lights The Collision and Myriad. The debut album has taken over 12 months to write and is to be called “Fast Food at Midnight”. It has been mixed, engineered and produced by Steve Lyon & Mark Long, with the support of their music publisher Peer Music. Steve Lyon has a fantastic musical CV having produced such classic albums as “Songs Of Faith And Devotion” by Depeche Mode, “Cha Cha Cha” by EMF and “Wild Mood Swings” by The Cure.

The tune itself is just a snapshot of what the band has in store for us on the album. It features all the quality raw materials that the band has shown us in the past, along with some new touches. The guitar loop positively smoulders while Jack’s substantial vocals lead you through the lyrics; which are based around the idea of doing things which we know to be wrong or damaging, yet continuing to do so anyway. “Fast Food At Midnight” is a metaphor for this; a phrase that drummer Charlie coined late one night on the way back from a previous studio session, outside of a service station McDonald’s. The quartet are a unified band of musical brothers who all have input on the writing and musical process.

Bassist Joe explains “it’s easy to imagine that every one of us hears the finished song in a different way in our heads and what we get at the end of it is something that we’re all extremely proud of; which lies somewhere in the middle of the Venn diagram of sounds we were each looking for, in a way that no single one of us would have been able to describe to you prior to the studio magic”. The new single “Fast Food At Midnight” is released on the 25th October.
