After a chance meeting on the “This Feeling” stage at last yearís Isle of Wight festival I have been following the exploits of Sheffield all-girl indie/synth-pop band with some interest. On that stiflingly hot day in June, this stylish six-piece delivered a spirited performance full of great original tunes that thoroughly entertained a spoilt for choice crowd, who could have chosen to see any number of bands at that time. With youthful energy and influences taken from a time long before any of the band have been born, they have set pulses racing at every live performance they play.
This month the band release their new single “Blue Movie Baby”; a tune that was brought to life at the Yellow Arch Studios with the help of producer Harry Roke, who also plays in indie band Yves. The tune brings together the delightful vocals of Naomi which at times is simply sugary sweet with a much harder edge following as the song develops. The song positively bounces along with a great combination of electric guitars, bass and some seriously good stick work from Ciara giving the song it’s true backbone. These young ladies have over time developed a unique chemistry which has helped them become a band that is predicted to grow and grow. Though this single is great, I’m sure that the Seamonsters have plenty more in the tank and I’m sure their best is yet to come.
