South Coast based singer/songwriter Sarah Di Battista recently released her debut single called “Calling To You”. The song was recorded at HP Music recording studios in Ringwood; with the help of Harrison Perks who produced, mixed and mastered the song. It also features the drumming of talented Saints of Sin sticks man Josh Rose. Sarah explains “the song is about a sense of feeling lost or having self-doubt. I wrote this song in a time of battling with anxiety and depression, but making it upbeat to give it a feel-good vibe and representing hope of overcoming them”. Sarah’s biggest musical inspiration is her Father who gave the first introduction to music, she used to go to his gigs and he taught her how to play the guitar from the age of about 12. By the time she was 14 she started playing at his gigs alongside him.
These early experiences sowed the seeds of wanting to create her own music and later on this year Sarah is planning on releasing further original material. The tune kicks off with some neatly played, introductory acoustic guitar; before Sarah’s uplifting voice comes in and it’s joined by some complimentary keys and electric guitars, coupled with some toe-tapping rhythms. The infectious moral boosting nature of the track would certainly lend itself to radio play and acts as a great introduction to Sarah’s work. It’s an intriguing debut, one that certainly makes you want more and I look forward to hearing her future releases.
