MG and the Juggernauts are a hard rock four piece from Bournemouth formed in 2009, who have been getting, and deservedly so, great reviews. Here at RR towers we have been able to get to listen to their 3 track “The Dream EP”. With an original sounding, powerful, yet melodic brand of rock, which has had them supporting The Lost Prophets at the Hard Rock Cafe with Activision for “Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock”, and getting to the finals of the Star Sensations “Battle of the Bands” (2010).

The EP opens with “Punishment (The End)” which has a rather melancholy feel, but maintains that feel of underlying power, which then reveals itself about half way through with a barrage that you know you have been waiting for, an old school sound. The track then returns that the thoughtful sound of the opening.

However, the vocals really come alive on “On One Condition”, with a sound that reminds me of the 90’s!(?). Again, they seem to hold back with softer edge that holds the listener, and then there is a release of energy which ties it all together.

The EP ends with “If This Is Three”, a heavy track than the others, but maintaining a consistency that seems to be “their” sound.

The only aspect to the EP that this I was unsure about was the fade out on the last track. For this reviewer was a bit of let down, and felt a little lazy. Despite this they are certainly one to keep an eye out for!

I think the EP could have done with anther track, as I just wanted to listen to more! They have dates lined up for this year (below), and they will definitely be worth seeing, especially as 2011 could see big things for them.
