THISCITYISOURS

London’s THECITYISOURS kickstart a new chapter, as they release the first of their new material in the form of single Veins.

“Veins is a very natural progression from previous tracks from THECITYISOURS. As it was the first song written following our “Hollow Hope” EP, it still has the overall vibe people have come to know and love, catchy hooks mixed with dirty breakdowns, but it’s definitely got more of a mature feel with darker themes and lyrical content, exploring some of our most challenging experiences as people. In essence, the gloves have come off, with our new material. We chose to stick to our guns and write exactly what and how we felt at the time, which set a precedent for the band as a whole moving forward.

It’s a very personal track, written around themes of loss and death, and the emotional journey that inevitably comes with it. We chose to pay homage to one of our earlier releases and write Veins as a response to the message in that track. The lyrics are taken from the viewpoint of the person preparing to leave everything they’ve ever known behind and the various emotional stages that an individual may experience. The track journeys from fear, to acceptance and everything in between” – Mikey Page, guitars

Spawned into being in 2015, THECITYISOURS had a collective vision to create music that was undeniably brutal yet melodic. They released their debut EP Wildfire in 2016, which charted at #1 and #5 in the iTunes Rock and Metal charts respectively. 2017 followed with second EP Hollow Hope and reached the same chart position.

THISCITYISOURS

Working from the ground up by booking their own tours and self-releasing records, THECITYISOURS are renowned for their high energy, no holds barred live show. Highlights include support slots for the likes of The Word Alive, Dead By April, Slaves (US) alongside a short run of UK headline dates earlier this year.

“We’ve spent a long time in the shadows of the UK music scene, building almost everything we have achieved to date by ourselves, with the support of our exceptional fan base. We have always been a band that has got our hands dirty and stuck by our incredibly loyal fan base, but we are confident that these songs have just what it takes to pull us onto the next levelĂ®

Having spent much of 2018 working on new music, Veins is a statement of intent for THECITYISOURS, telling of things to come later this year. Watch this space for further news.
