The Icicle Works

The Icicle Works joined Liverpool’s early 1980s new wave, which also propelled the likes Echo & the Bunnymen and The Teardrop Explodes to stardom. They are best known their top 20 UK hit “Love is a Wonderful Colour” in 1983. Led by singer/songwriter Ian McNabb, the band released five albums from 1984 to 1990. Ian Mcnabb has also had a successful solo career recording eleven solo albums including making “Head Like a Rock” in Los Angeles with Crazy Horse.

The music of The Icicle Works continue to thrill audiences with great compositions such a “When it All Comes Down”, “Up Here in The North of England” and the energetic “Understanding Jane”. The very loyal fan base built up over the years are usually prepared to travel hundreds of miles just to see one of these exciting shows. The unpredictability of Mcnabb’s performances usually means anything can happen and usually does.
