Bournemouth Town Centre Launches Alfresco Art & Music Events
Summer Live – Bournemouth Square is a new programme of art and live music for the Town Centre. Starting on Tuesday and running till mid August, Bournemouth Square will have free entertainment between 5pm and 9pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
Acoustic music includes performances from Graham Seaton, Karl Lattimer and Charlie Woodford plus choirs and brass bands. Live art demonstrations will be hosted by Mirek J Lucan of LucanArt and other creative showcases have been scheduled weather depending.
Another feature is spoken word with award winning poet Steve Biddle presenting Poetry Corner on Wednesday 20th August from 7pm.
Local eateries will be open including Obscura Cafe trading until 11pm.
Summer Live – Bournemouth Square is initiated by Bournemouth Borough Council and supported by Bournemouth TownWatch, the Town Centre BID, absolute music, Leisure Light & Sound plus local acts and artists and organisers Strawberry Fields RePresents.
Event co-ordinator, Dan Holbeche comments “Bournemouth Square will be coming to life with acoustic music and a showcase of artists. Free for the public, this is a great opportunity to discover local talent and enjoy the Summer. Hoping for good weather, activities begin at 5pm and all ages are welcome.”
A ribbon will be cut by Cllr David Smith to open the events on Tuesday at 5.15pm with musical performances thanks to the Funky Little Choir Company, singer songwriter E-J Evans and emerging band The Arkades.
