The big ride is starting…Are you in?
(Rock Regeneration are!)
Sirpico are local band that always get favourable reviews round here. Having performed at Bandalsim, and Bandalism 2, so we were more than a little excited when we heard they were releasing an EP, and even more excited when we found out it was accompanied with a launch party at The Winchester in Bournemouth on April 6th.
Having enjoyed their music we can only speculate as to the tracks that will appear on their eponymously titled EP, aside from the one mentioned below, but we are sure that they will include their popular live tracks.
So with no further ado, in their own words, is the press release…
Like so many bands, Sirpico was always on the verge of being something people would love. However, like so many before it, there was no guarantee of when the perfect elements would come together. With an eclectic blend of classic rock, indie, old school r’n’b with an ever present modern touch drawn upon from the four corners of musical mastery with the current line up, it would seem that time has come.
Despite existing for several years, the band has only started to take it’s greatest steps in the last two years. It has been in this time that the band has been able to headline the Loungefest festival in Guildford, perform multiple times at the Bournemouth O2 Academy, as well win over the crowd in an electric performance at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London.
Amongst these highlights, the band has also been able to supply the soundtrack for the cinema release of the feature film Coolio, Starring Geoff Bell (Rock ‘n’ Rolla, Green Street, The Business) and Frank Maloney (Manager and promoter of Undisputed Heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, as well as British and Commonwealth champion, David Price). The band was also invited to perform at the cinema premiere of Coolio, which took place at the Barbican Theatre, London.
In 2012, the members of Sirpico signed their first management contract with the London based Iconic Artist Management (Who have worked along side the likes of Akon and Snoop Dogg). This new relationship has been the catalyst for the band to record a brand new E.P, which will have it’s initial launch party on April 6th 2013 at The Winchester, Bournemouth. With so much of the band’s activities being focussed outside of Bournemouth, the decision was made to have this momentous occasion take place in the hometown of Sirpico.
The band’s new EP is a mixture of songs that have been in the live set for the past two years, as well as freshly written material. Amongst the tracks is the aptly titled “In the River,” which is currently being considered for use in the final still-to-be-filmed season of the hit American TV show, Dexter.
This new EP will be promoted with more performances throughout the year, with some of the feature shows being the launch party on April 6th at The Winchester, May 4th at the Bournemouth O2, May 25th at the Bournemouth Sevens festival, July 13th at Loungefest in Guildford, among many other club gigs.
The band will also be appearing at a number of summer festivals throughout the UK, with dates yet to be released.
