News: Live and Unheard Featuring: The Jonny Phillips Trio, Becca Maule & Fly Yeti Fly
August 29, 2022at Lighthouse, Poole Thursday 8th September
After a summer break for the music festival season, Hangover Hill’s duo of Matt Black and Mel Berkhauer return to the Lighthouse this month with their monthly live music showcase Live and Unheard. As always this month’s line-up features an eclectic mix of styles from across the music spectrum:
The Jonny Phillips Trio
After bringing a pot of indie rock to a simmer on the musical stove, The Jonny Phillips Trio throw in a pinch of prog, a couple of spoonful’s of blues, and maybe a psychedelic or two to create a tantalising one-pot wonder of explosive auricular fusion. Musically guaranteed to satisfy the soul and body, some intricate song writing will satiate the mind. Since supporting Wille & The Bandits for a section of their UK tour back in 2018, the JP3 have been busy gigging their songs and honing their sound. Happy with the live product, they set to work on producing ‘yin’ – their debut EP – out now. ‘Yang’ is set for release in January 2023.
Becca Maule
Becca Maule is a singer-songwriter from Salisbury, writing lyrics about world issues such as climate change, as well as personal topics such as mental health. Becca is a popular regular on the local gigging circuit, earning herself Best Female Solo Performer and Rising Star in the Salisbury Music Awards in November 2021. The Teenage Things EP is her first collection of 4 songs all self-written and recorded in 2022 at Tunnel Rat Studios in Wiltshire, and just you wait till you hear them.
Fly Yeti Fly
With their own unique flavour of delicate-but-distinctive folk, Fly Yeti Fly are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Blending sensitive vocal harmonies with intricate guitar arrangements, mandolin and harmonica, and with a warmth of spirit that radiates from the stage, the Wiltshire-based duo weave songs and stories about connection, community and the seasons, with a sound that is reminiscent of the late-’60s folk scene. Now living on their canal boat on the Kennet & Avon, their music is heavily influenced by the ebb and flow of life on the water.
