100 Club, London

It’s a wet Monday evening on London’s busy Oxford Street and a long queue of excited Absolute Music competition winners are waiting patiently outside the legendary “100 Club”. Tonight Irish band Inhaler is back in town to play their first gig of the year, an intimate warm-up in front of just 300 people ahead of their first headline US tour. The band’s popularity has steadily increased since the release of their debut album “It Won’t Always Be Like This” and with a huge outdoor homecoming show in Dublin booked in June, 2022 is certainly set to be one to remember for the hotly tipped act.

After a short introduction by Absolute Music DJ Danielle Parry – the band Ryan (Drums), Eli (Vocals/Guitar), Robert (Bass), Josh (Lead Guitar), and Louis (Keyboards) arrive onto the stage to a euphoric welcome. Kicking off with the album’s title track, you can just tell from the off that is going to be a very memorable night. The atmosphere in this place is just amazing and the band is all really fired up, while still showing themselves to all be as cool as cucumbers.

After the earlier shows Inhaler are now showing themselves in a new; much more confident light, with their stagecraft geared much more to pleasing the ever-growing army of loyal fans. The audience is well versed in the band’s material and with each track played there is a huge burst of enthusiasm, along with everyone singing along to the words. The creative side of the band shows them pushing many boundaries to create their own unique sound, while paying homage to some of their favourite artists. Tracks like the brilliant “My King Will Be Kind” and the epic-sounding atmospheric gem “In My Sleep” show the band at their best.

Eli addresses the crowd and proudly states that the band has already started work on their second album and with the momentum that is currently carrying them, there is clearly great excitement on how it will sound. There are a host of cameras in here tonight to capture the whole event on film for a possible future release. The crowd, the band, and the venue all had their part to play on this monumental evening that saw some dreams come true for these 5 lads from Dublin and some amazing memories made for those privileged to be here.
