On Friday 25th of November Bournemouth brothers Joe & Charlie Walker unveiled a brand new rhythm section of Zack (Bass) and Paul (Drums) for their band Raygo Bloom, at a gig at the Madding Crowd. The duo have decided to swap their acoustic guitars for electrics and expand to a four-piece, to give some additional energy and drive to their original tracks. This is followed by the release of their first single as a four-piece entitled “False Promises”. The brothers have already made many notable ripples from their gigs/single releases as a duo showcasing their melodic harmonies and impressive songwriting. This has got them nominated in two categories: “Best Small Band” and “Best Newcomer” in the forthcoming Hangover Hill’s Original Music Awards, taking place in January.

The new single shows a whole different side from Raygo Bloom’s previous releases, the brothers show their considerable skills with six-string electric guitars. They create a wholesome melodic sound and with their all new rhythm section they inject energy that perhaps their previous offerings were lacking. The transition to all-electric seemed inevitable and the additions have given the band a whole new lease of life and plenty more options when performing live. “False Promises” tells the story of a failing relationship and shows the pragmatist in the lyrics no longer needs to be in that relationship due to a lack of trust.

The lyric boasts “as soon as you’re gone, I’ll try and get with someone else. To prove myself I don’t need your love…you’re just a memory of what once was”. The changes within the line-up can only be seen as a positive step for the career of Raygo Bloom and how they use this will shape the band’s future. I look forward to seeing how things develop and with 2023 on the horizon, I think it will be a very important year for them to consider their options.
