News: November’s Hangover Hill Presents “Live & Unheard” at Lighthouse Poole
October 15, 2022featuring Andy Grant Band, Steve Bonham and The Long Road, Root 66 and Rob McHale
Hangover Hill’s guardians of our local music scene Matt Black and Mel Berkhauer have upped their game once again to bring a value for money line up to November’s Live & Unheard with four acts taking to the stage for just £12 per ticket. It all takes place in the Shieling Studio on the ground floor on 10th November from 7:30pm.
Andy Grant Band
Andy Grant Band invite you to join them for an evening of Blues Roots Rock – performing songs from their latest album ‘Dig The Darkness’ – a journey through electric blues and dusty Americana to eastern trance and ‘widescreen road movie’ epic. Featuring infectious melodies, incendiary guitar playing, bluesy vocals and funky grooves: think classic rock era rock 3 piece mixed with 21st century edge- add a dash of slide guitar and you’re getting close to this distinctive blend of blues, roots and rock. The trio combine Grant’s deft song writing and guitar artistry with Simon Rushbrook’s muscular basslines and drummer Jack Revy’s impeccable grooves, serving up a rootsy collection of funky electric blues, rocking riffs and killer rhythms.
Steve Bonham and The Long Road
The Long Road were formed with a single mad idea to go back to the source to explore and reimagine what might grow out of the great musical roots of USA. A crazy notion to try distil something original and powerful from the elements that made some of the most potent music ever heard by human ears. The band call it Moonshine Music: taking a few simple, authentic ingredients adding a little heat and magic to try to conjure up some rare, raw spirit. Their music is definitely acoustic but of a powerful and stirring kind. Big melodies and great riffs abound and the stories they wrap round them are intimate and expansive, funny and moving.
Root 66
Matt Griffiths, Amie Knight, Steve Faulkner and Mikey Ball team up to bring you ‘Root 66’. Four accomplished solo musicians and friends, combine their love for country, folk and rock music. With charting original songs, popular covers and witty banter, you’re set for quality entertainment day or night.
Rob McHale
Rob McHale is a North Carolina-based Folk-Americana artist whose songs can take you through a small town, down a dirt road or on an historical journey – and bring you back home again. Rob’s flair for penning historical and social commentary songs has received recognition and awards from American Songwriter Magazine, Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, Dallas Songwriters Association, and Billboard.
