The Lighthouse Poole
featuring Sirpico, Chimneyfish, Wendy Jane
Launching a new season of Live & Unheard, the monthly showcase for original music talent, three more unsigned acts line up at Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, on Wednesday 8th January.
Bournemouth-based guitar band Sirpico has a well-earned reputation for their lively, energetic performances. Their sound is driven by Al Sirpico’s distinctively clear punchy vocals and telling piano playing backed by Dan “The Fury” Meazza (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Finch (bass, backing vocals) and Tim ëPidgeí Pidgeley (drums).
Having written and performed together for more than 30 years there is nothing accidental about the unapologetically rustic sound of ChimneyFish. Featuring Ray Russell on double bass and Mark Wilton-Patrick on guitar and vocals, they meander through folk, rock íní roll, country and jazz in theirown inimitable style. Highly individual and enormously entertaining, this is a musical autobiography from two very familiar old mates.
Multi-instrumentalist Wendy Jane plays piano, flute, guitar and harp and sings with a gentle warmth and care for the world around her and those who inhabit it. She has spent more than a decade directing and teaching others in musical theatre and choral settings and through one-to-tuition, but her passion is to reach others with her own compositions.
Hangover Hill is inviting bands and artists interested in performing at Live & Unheard to contact the studio at hangoverhill@gmail.com.
