Spring Park

From the leafy backwater of Northampton come three lads with their own brand of hard, harsh Pop/Punk. On November 15th Spring Park unleash their new single “Happy Holidays”, to coincide with a show in their hometown supporting Punk legends UK Subs.

A strange Industrial-style edit gives way to ferocious hitting. A thudding bass accompanies a vocal, not unlike Green Day at their rawest. The clangy guitars perfectly suit the explosive hitting and bass throb. There’s an interesting bridge where the noodly guitar suddenly expands like a coiled spring (sic). The song’s subject matter would suggest it’s anything but happy – it’s stark, dark and on the edge. “I melt away, so Happy fucking Holidays”, sounds more like desperation.

Spring Park

So with a certain festive celebration just around the corner, here’s a song to dull the mood for those not of a festive mindset. Following on from 2016’s ‘Blow Up Your TV’ ep Spring Park move forward into altogether darker territory. Whether fictional or autobiographical it pulls no punches but sees the band expand their sound. Spring Park is flying the flag for Brit Pop/Punk and this is just another explosive cut to add to their armoury.
