EP: “Snakes A Snake” by The Two Man Travelling Medicine Show
April 14, 2018
Coming “Straight Outta Dorset” this ramshackle bunch of dedicated musicians “The Two Man Travelling Medicine Show” follow up their debut album “Weeding out the Wicked”, with a brand new three track EP which is a small sample of what to expect from the next album. It is out on the 6th June on Music Bear Records. The EP was recorded locally in Bournemouth at The Burrow with the capable guidance and expertise of Mathew Musial. The eight-piece band have built up an unshakeable chemistry with each of them having their own very individual parts to play. The melting pot of influences stretch far and wide with the band continuing to deliver infectious tunes that will push the very boundaries of your cranium.
The opening tune “Snakes A Snake” brings together a rustic mix of banjo, violin and guitars; coupled with Mark Lyons well delivered and heartfelt vocals. The tune is a raucous mix of Dorset Hoedown, Bluegrass and large amounts of contagious lyrical content that will have you away from the bar dancing at many of this SummerÃs outdoor festivals. “Flood” has a grand piano opening before the vocals kick in, along with a lovely layered mix of instruments arranged so that they all complement each other perfectly. Mark sings the hook that repeats “After the Rain” that could easily get a crowd singing along together, it could possibly be describing a typical English Summer.
Things are turned right upon their head for the final tune where Alison (Jay) gets her chance to deliver some very beautiful and delicate vocals. These are sung over some gentle acoustic guitar and Brad’s neatly plucked banjo. “Sick & Tired” tells the hurt and pain of a troubled relationship. The band have a long list of dates ahead of them this Summer and they will be rolling out these and other new tunes at some of the many festivals that they are due to play.
