S-Bomb Vintage Workshop, Poole

Black Tree Vultures

Hidden away from most of the usual tourist places in Poole is a small characteristic workshop situated on the edge of Poole Harbour, with glorious views over the “twin sales” bridge and beyond. The workshop was formerly a shellfish processing warehouse; however, a year ago it was converted into “S-Bomb”, a vintage motorcycle repair shop by an entrepreneur locally known as “Tich”. The venue offers many facilities including a retail outlet selling exclusive apparel, Private Venue hire (Parties/Videos & Photograph shoots) as well as offering a host of original options for the motorcycle enthusiast. The place also has a well-stocked bar; so if you just want to drop by for a drink and chill out in the sunshine overlooking the harbour, then you are made to feel most welcome.

Tonight Titch and S-Bomb are celebrating one year’s trading and it is indeed a good excuse for a party. Bournemouth rock band the “Black Tree Vultures” have been invited along to play a gig for the party revellers, and they themselves with help from Karl at “Crispy Jacket Studios” recorded their debut video for “Overrule Me” right here (See Video Below). With the place packed and the party in full swing the Black Tree Vultures kick off their set at 9pm sharp and proceed to thoroughly entertain. Tucked in one corner of the workshop the band open with “Overrule Me” and it is apparent from the start that this old wooden-roofed building has great acoustics. Frontman Celyn Beynon fully encourages the audience to get involved; weaving in and out of the crowd and climbing on scaffolding, while pushing powerfully delivered vocals through his classic vintage microphone.

The band tonight, for the first time locally unveil their new bassist Matt Park who formerly was a guitarist in Poole indie band “Empire Affair”. Matt looks really at home with the bass in his hands and alongside former Voodoo Vegas drummer Jonno Smyth they create the most epic rhythm section, rumbling the very foundations of this old building. Guitarist Aaron thrills the audience with a fantastic note-perfect version of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, which gets a welcoming reception from all present. The band bravely perform mainly original tunes from their debut EP “Sanity Isn’t Perfect”, which features a broad mix of rock styles from blues to a full-on metal assault with the epic “Doom of Malakai”. The band end their set on a high with an extended version of The Kinks “You Really Got Me” featuring some more of Aaron’s creative guitar work and excellent vocal delivery from Celyn. Parties really don’t get much better than this; great location, great food & drink and of course excellent live music. Our best wishes go to “Titch” on the future success of S-Bomb and we look forward to returning to this great place very soon.
