UK Headline Tour For October/November Including Date At the Anvil In Bournemouth
Liverpudlian pop-punk quartet, WSTR, are thrilled to finally be announcing the completion and release of their debut album. Entitled “Red, Green Or Inbetween”, the record is set for release on 20th January, 2017 via No Sleep Records.
After the heralding success of their debut EP – “SKRWD” (No Sleep Records – Sept 2015), the band have gone from strength to strength and achieved many accolades that most acts don’t achieve off the back of only one EP. 2016 saw WSTR repeatedly circuit the UK and Europe with international touring bands such as Neck Deep, A Wilhelm Scream, Moose Blood & Creeper, and were welcomed onto established festival slots, at Slam Dunk Festival, 2000 Trees, Hevy Fest and Butserfest.
“When we started the band we were all in a situation of waking up every morning, going to work, coming home, going to sleep,î recalls Sammy Clifford, vocalist – when explaining the origins of his bandís blunt moniker; ìIt felt like we were just wasted space & not really doing much with our lives other than working. To be honest, that situation hasn’t really changed other than now weíre really broke due to band commitments. But, this band has given us all something to do & to be proud of; like, we aren’t prepared to just settle for a boring, generic lifestyle and weíre doing something about it.”
Completed by guitarists Danny Swift and Kieren Alder and bassist Alex Tobijanski, the quartet grew up on the ‘original’ mainstream pop punk bands, like Blink 182, New Found Glory and Sum 41, and they make no bones about being the product of their influences.
On their debut, Sammy continues about where they found inspiration for song writing and their album title; “This album is mainly a breakup album however it’s not a “fuck you” album it’s more a “mad at myself” album. The title, “Red, Green Or Inbetween” is based on being stuck in limbo or in the “in-between”. Amber is also the name of a significant friend of mine who most of the songs are about, so it’s a pretty sad boy record. Itís all about kicking myself for not stepping up when I had the chance and coasting through life making bad decisions. Compared to the EP, itís still very honest but just bigger, better and longer. The artwork is a voodoo doll which is meant to represent me, as I sometimes feel like someone is out to get me with all the bad luck I have. Putting out an album is a big scary step, but it’s been a long time coming and weíre ready to see what the world has to say and hopefully see some more of it too.”
