All the way from Cakovec in Croatia comes 3 piece Media Tres with their EP “E.V.I.L.” (eVirus Influenced Love), which was actually released in the middle of December last year. But part 2 soon follows this Spring, with an album planned.
The 5 track EP is a fusion of Alt/Rock and Indie stylings, with a few hints of other influences just to keep things fresh. The guitar work sits atop the rhythm section; giving an infectious foot tapping vibe and before you know it your head is nodding along, while the vocals have an edge that perfectly accompanies the vocals.
While “Outcast” is slightly harder hitting and shows the more rockier side to their sound. As the songs punchy melody gets under your skin the guitar riffs work away, whilst the interesting lyrics open with “there’s a body in the lake”; with the question being asked who is it, me or you?
From the distorted opening of “Blue” through to “Running isn’t the best solution” there is a simplicity to their sound. A certain rawness to the EP, but even with that in mind there is a tightness to their sound. Yet lyrically they take on more than the obvious, leading to an EP (I cannot speak for their other material) that demands to be listened to again and again.
