Galahad

Galahad are proud to announce that they will playing a special 30th anniversary show at Mr Kyps in Poole, Dorset on Saturday 4th July 2015. The band will be performing songs from every period of their career including some which have not been played live for many years. Tickets are priced at £12 in advance and can purchased from the Mr. Kyps web-site. We reccomend you purchase your tickets in advance and this is sure to be a sell out as this will be one of only a handful of shows the band will play in 2015.

Galahad formed in 1985 just for fun playing half covers (Genesis, Zeppelin, Rush, Sabbath, Focus, Marillion etc) and half original material. Galahad then supported a few fairly well known Progressive bands that were coming up at the time including IQ, Pendragon, Haze and later Pallas and Magnum.

Then, after mixing it with the slightly ‘bigger boys’ Galahad decided take it more seriously, playing only original material resulting in the release of their first proper album in 1991, ‘Nothing Is Written’, which was purely self financed and released independently but which went on to sell several thousand copies.

The band has now released sixteen albums including albums by main band offshoots such as Galahad Electric Company and the Galahad Acoustic Quintet. The band has played hundreds of gigs in the UK, Europe and America over the last few years, at times in some very unusual venues!

Galahad launched a remixed, remastered version of 2007 album Empires Never recently. A companion set called Empires: A Curious Companion is available as a download only. It includes demos, unused ideas and pieces issued as downloads from the Galahad website. In 2002 Galahad released ‘Year Zero’ which featured John Wetton (Asia, King Crimson, Family etc) on guest vocals. In September 2006 Galahad released their debut DVD “Resonance”, which was recorded live in Katowice, Poland in May 2006.

Their next studio album “Empires Never Last”, which features Karl Groom (Threshold) on engineering duties, took the band in a heavier, more muscular, guitar orientated direction. This more contemporary, metallic approach seems to have worked as “Empires” has proved to be the band’s most successful album to date, both commercially and critically, and resulted in them winning album of the year at the 2007 Classic Rock Society awards. “Empires” was also included in many music web sites top tens for 2007.

2012 saw the band re-merge with not one but TWO new studio albums; “Battle Scars” released in April and “Beyond the Realms of Euphoria” in October, plus a live CD/DVD “Whitchurch 92/93 – Live Archives Vol. 2” and to top it off, an official authorised biography of the band “One for the Record” written by Andrew Wild was published in early 2013.

2014 saw the band releasing a clutch of EP’s throughout the year, plus a re-issue of “Empires Never Last” which is re-mixed and also includes extra material. This “30” photo montageon the gig flyer will be the cover of Galahad’s forthcoming 30th anniversary album “When Worlds Collide” which will contain no less than 10 brand new re-recordings of older songs, some dating back as far as 1985 including one track dating from 1986 which has never been recorded before! The rest of the album (a double CD) will be made up by tracks from our last three “Thin Ice studio” recorded albums. The “old” songs which have been completely re-worked and re-recorded with Karl Groom at Thin Ice Studios for inclusion on the 30th anniversary retrospective double CD “When Worlds Collide” are as follows:
