EP: “Show Me The Money/Stand Up” – Lyrical Monsoon

May 13, 2014 Off By Jon
Lyrical Monsoon

Straight out of Salisbury town are an in your face band who absolutely dare to be different, they don’t care about genres or pigeon holes. Lyrical Monsoon are a six piece band fronted by Carl and Gavin who positively deliver a form of socially aware lyrics that would prick any self respecting persons conscience. Carl and Gavin are not your usual rappers, they play to a live band who create a mish-mash of different styles injecting elements of Funk, Rock, Hip Hop, Reggae, Ska, Metal and anything else that takes their fancy.

“Show Me The Money” is an infectious little ditto that gets under your skin within the first few listens, with a chorus that delivers on all levels. Featuring some great lyrical banter between Carl and Gavin with some very cleverly written lyrics. “Stand Up” is an experimental number mixing Hip Beats with a Waltz, yes you heard me correctly; a waltz. It sounds ridiculous but it really works! The band during a gig last year at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth had their army of fans waltzing around the dance floor.
