Takin' The Mic

This weeks focus on Hope Fm’s local music show ‘Live Wire Live’ was the Open Mic group “Takin’ The Mic’ run by Kaia Vieria and Jordan Digby. The couple themselves met at an open mic night at Camden in Ashley Cross and decided to start their own open mic sessions at the King Charles Pub in Poole and the Victoria Cross in Parkstone. The duo each perform themselves at these nights and encourage others to form musical relationships with a host of different collaborations. Whether your are a novice that has never performed in front of an audience before or an established musician you will be made more than welcome as one of these evenings.

Takin' The Mic

On tonight’s show they brought along one of their regulars Jimmy Swan who performed a song called “You Turned Up” all about his love of Speedway. The song tells a story of one of Jimmy’s regular visits to the Wimborne Road Stadium while watching the home team Poole Pirates. Jordan Digby gave us a nice acoustic preview of a new song called “Ancient Scrolls” from his band Soulhole’s forth-coming album.

The star of the evening had to be the very talented Kaia Vieria who despite initially being quite shy produced a simply breath-taking vocal performance of a new song called “The Fool”. Finally Jordan and Kaia performed a cover of Dusty Stray’s “You Lost Me” with their voices combining beautifully to end the evening on a high. If you want to know more about the Takin’ The Mic nights go to their Facebook page where you will be able to find all the dates and venues for all the forthcoming events.
