Hope FM Studio, Bournemouth
Monkey’s Uncle started when a young Lennon Moody approached his Uncle Andy and asked him to help him learn to play guitar.
As things progressed they formed a special bond and started playing as an acoustic duo performing at a host of local venues, as well as taking part in a few music competitions. The duo’s first recording came in the form of their debut album “G String Fully Loaded”, a full 9 track album that features some really great well written tracks such as “Memphis”, “Wonder” and “Hero”, a very personal tribute written about the tragic death of Lennon’s Grandparents from cancer.
Recently the band have grown to a four piece; bringing in Jim Kendall on drums, formerly of “Amity Road” and Kieron Sanderson on bass. Monkey’s Uncle have just released their 1st EP as a four piece called “Rough & Ready” which features a slightly heavier direction. Lennon also plays in Pop/Punk outfit “Escapefrom 98” which is interestingly something so far away from what Monkey’s Uncle produce. The four members of the band came along to the Hope FM studio for some exceptionally lively banter and to play some live acoustic numbers. Andy and Lennon played three original songs from the 1st album as well as a specially chosen cover. There was something really special about hearing these two produce some seriously beautiful harmonies combined with some skilful acoustic guitar work. Hear the performance for yourself with our four exclusive videos of their performances that can be seen below.
