Hope Fm Studio, Bournemouth

Black Water County

Black Water County bought along their lively style of Celtic folk rock to the Hope FM Studio on Wednesday with the band playing four brilliant toe trapping tracks that got both myself and co-presenter Tim Heywood up on our feet moving.

The band take their more than obvious influences from artists like The Pogues, Flogging Molly, The Men They Couldn’t Hang and the Dropkick Murphy’s. Their Celtic sound is created using rational folk instruments like the Banjo, mandolin and Tin whistle. They only formed last year and since them have been regulars on the pub live music circuit with a few larger gigs including a successful outing at this years Dorset Steam Fair.

Black Water County

It is obvious from the enthusiastic way that they play that they all thoroughly enjoy playing music together and if the band are having fun, that their audience will too. The drummer/Percussionist a one Andy Smooth should be familiar to most local music fans already as he also can be found behind the drum kit for “Walk The Night” (Formerly Colt 45/Bad Magic) and blues outfit Thunderboy & The Lightening Bolts. It was a great evening on fun filled banner coupled with some well performed great music. Go out and see them live you will have a great night out!!
