The Jimmy Hill Billies
July 24, 2013Hope Fm Studio, Bournemouth
A Bunch of rednecks from deepest South (Of England) spend their weekdays as highly respectable people with families and jobs. Then come the weekend they spend their time sleeping under canvas in dusty old fields supping scrumpy and playing some really fun uplifting hoedown music.
The Jimmy Hill Billies come from a bustling music scene whose previous bands include “Hoedown At Hanks”, “Pronghorn”, and more recently “Kentucky Fight Club” who have all have shaped the music that fans in Dorset love to listen to. The band’s name was taken from back in the day when “Pronghorn” used to tour in Holland, they set up football tournaments with the local Dutch teams and the team was named after football pundit Jimmy Hill hence “The Jimmy Hill Billies” name was born. The perfect setting for this type of music is a summer Festival and the band have no shortage of these having already played storming sets at both the Wonky Donk and ToneFest with many more already in the pipeline. The news of the band’s rise in popularity is spreading far and wide, so it was fitting that they popped into the Hope FM studio for an rare interview and an exclusive acoustic session, the videos below show their great performances.
