The Underground Pilots self-titled 3 track EP is available on a pay-what-you-want download from Soundcloud.

Hailing from Portsmouth this five piece outfit play Progressive Stoner Rock with style. Opener New Wave begins with a very Doors/Roxy Music feel to it, with spoken vocals and soft lilting guitars that build up slowly then explode into the chorus, urging us to “ride a new wave”. The listener is let back down gently as the track reverts back to the slower beginning style again. Next up is Hedonistic Heroin and the band start rocking out for real with an up-tempo number that could have been recorded in 90’s Seattle Grunge era.

They save the best until last with MEGA RIFF, which does what it says on the tin and has a mega riff running through it that you just canít help but bang your head to-rockiní stuff! All in all an accomplished debut from a young band with bags of talent. I look forward to hearing more music from them as they cut their teeth live and find their natural groove.
