Eldorado

Most of the time I get sent music from record labels, unsigned bands or the RR editor straight through to my email but every so often, when surfing the social media sites, I happen upon a band that blows me away. So much so that I comment on their page and most of the time that’s it, but when I commented of Eldorados Myspace they PM’d me and asked me did I want to review their album. Did I want to?…Hell YES!

Antigravity Sound Machine is a rip-roaring slice of old school classic rock in the vein of Bad Company and Free. Big 70’s style riffs collide with a modern groove laden beat and the whole thing is a roller coaster ride through the aural senses. The band is from Madrid, Spain and on this album made the bold decision to forsake their native tongue and sing in English and by god they sound huge. Jesus Trujillo’s vocals sear into the brain like a hybrid of Robert Plant and Ian Gillan. The mountain levelling riffs of Andre’s Duende are superb, as is his intricate guitar work on such songs as Like A Lost Child.

Eldorado

The solid rhythm foundation is set by the rampant drumming of Javi Planelles and the out-of-this-world funkadelc groovetastic bass lines of Cesar Sanchez which rampage across the album like a Rhino on smack. With the opus also having the production done by the in-demand Richard Chycki whose outstanding work with Rush on the Clockwork Angels album and Dream Theater’s A Dramatic Turn of Events has added a beautiful glossy sheen to the whole proceeding.

Eldorado

This has turned out to be one of my all-time favourite albums and I can see it staying on my Ipod indefinitely. World class music from a world class rock band.
