The Anvil, Bournemouth
Voodoo Pistols, Mother Corona, Skeleton, In The Hills, Grifter, Trippy
Tonight saw the third Venomfest at The Anvil, boasting “Bournemouth’s ONLY stoner, doom and heavy groove gatherings”.
I didn’t catch the Voodoo Pistols and just caught the last song from Mother Corona. It’s getting better… I completely missed ’em last time!
Skeleton bought the doom in. Their Sabbath influenced heavy riffs drawing the crowd down from upstairs and getting heads banging. In The Hills reign supreme, their tunes are as heavy as a bucket load of bricks and they get better every time I see ’em!
Grifter tore the Anvil a new one 3 months back and they returned to repeat the performance. Their Hard rock riffs laced with blues get the crowd grooving. Always a class act, they unleash their killer tunes with unbridled passion and throw in a Black Sabbath cover for good measure.
It’s Trippy Wicked and the Cosmic Children of the Knight’s first time at the Anvil and the place was packed. They let loose and soon everybody was grooving their socks off. Massive riffs pounded the Anvil basement and the unique vocal style of Pete added an extra level to the show. It was one groove laden track after another and the crowd was lapping it up. So much so that when the band finish the audience demand another and when that’s done… another after that!
The band look physically moved at the emotional response level from the crowd, also physically drained as they are giving their all and it gets well hot in the Anvil. They finally finish before passing out and thank everyone for a great night.
Venomfest III was a major success and I’m looking forward to Venomfest IV on May the 4th 2013.
Groove on!
