Preview: “Run For Your Life” by Beartown Zodiac
October 30, 2012Beartown Zodiac are an Indie-Folk-Pop collective based on the South Coast of England led by singer and multi-instrumentalist David Bird-Hawkins.
After a year of travelling the world, armed with a white Flying-V Ukulele and honing his song writing abilities, David returned to the UK to perform as a solo artist under the name Beartown Zodiac. In 2012 David signed to independent label Woodenhouse Records and began working with a full band, enhancing and unlocking the full potential of his songs.
With songs of wanderlust and mountains, broken I-pods and Zombies, Beartown Zodiac’s sound ranges from beautiful acoustic and violin numbers to all out guitar-soaked rock. Influences range from Sparklehorse, Grandaddy, Super Furry Animals, Blur, Eels and everything in between.
Beartown Zodiac can perform live as a five-piece band, a ukulele and violin duo, or solo.
Studio tracks feature guest musicians and singers, such as Jason Applin, Mark Lyons, Kevin Moorey and Stephanie Moorey. The live band is Tiff Wheaton-Green, Matt Musial, Ed James and Alison Jay.
Beartown’s first release is the Zombie Apocalyptic inspired ‘Run For Your Life’, available now at beartownzodiac.bandcamp.com
The debut album will be released on Woodenhouse Records late 2012 / early 2013.
