We would love to see every music fan in the local area love you to join in. Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long music festival. Each year, hundreds of music-lovers get involved across the UK to raise money for Oxfam by holding their own events. This yearís fundraising concludes in one main flagship event on 20th October in several venues across Bournemouth, with performances taking place through the day and into the night.
Last year Oxjam Bournemouth raised over £11,300 for Oxfam – the highest amount for any Takeover event across the UK. This generated solid publicity across the UK as well as within Bournemouth and the surrounding areas. Oxjam Bournemouth Takeover 2012 will be held in venues and bars on 20th October 2012. 4 of Bournemouth’s central venues will be with local artists, musicians. The event is being held and run on a completely voluntary basis, with all organisers, performers, venues, and sponsors providing time, talent, skills, and donations in order to make it happen.
Following the Band Call, Oxjam Bournemouth have planned a series of gigs from 13th October leading up to the Takeover Festival on Saturday 20th October when local musicians and acts man 4 key venues – 60 Million Postcards, On The Rocks, Smokiní Aces and The Pier Theatre, from 2pm-late. They can promise a range of acts to suit all tastes and the chance to flit from venue to venue, take in acoustic, rock and the avant garde on the way. We are positively encouraging you to dress up for our End of The Pier Show, where you can enjoy screenings from local filmmakers, spoken word events and some very special musical acts from day through to night. This year Oxfam has launched its Grow campaign, marking the start of a global movement for better ways to grow, share and live together. It’s all about addressing the broken food system so we can put enough food on the table for everyone. It’s about land grabs, food prices, climate and small-scale farming. It’s about the food on your table, today and tomorrow.
We Got Tickets is the place to get your ticket upfront for £5 in adavnce or £6 on the day from any of our key venues:
