Back in the swirling mists of time…1972 to be precise! A band that had played at Monterey, Woodstock, with the Rolling Stones at the infamous Altamont concert and shared the bill numerous times with the Grateful Dead and the legendary Janis Joplin…dissolved. That band was Jefferson Airplane but in true sci-fi style, ex members Paul Kantner and David Freiberg re-styled the airplane and launched again with some new members: vocalist Cathy Richardson, lead guitarist Slick Aguilar, drummer Donny Baldwin and keyboardist/bassist Chris Smith as Jefferson Starship.
In 2011, Jefferson Starship marked the 40 years since the release of their first album “Blows Against the Empire,” by becaming the first ever rock music recording nominated for literary science fiction’s prestigious Hugo Award.
On Tuesday October 16th the Starship will be landing at The Brook in Southampton. Expect a vintage rock show with an Americana folk tinge and loads of songs including “Somebody To Love”, “Miracles,” “White Rabbit”, “Volunteers”, “Count On Me” and the epic track that is “Jane”.
