Charlie Bateman

Lead singer and song writer of Hampshire Folk band ‘Thinker” Charlie Bateman is on the 4th June to release his debut solo EP “Fall In Fall Out”. The song writing follows three clear subjects that are all very close to Charlie’s heart…………. Love, Loss and Politics. The six track affair takes you on a short journey into the mind of this folk troubadour, Charlie is clearly passionate and provides some heart warming lyrics delivered by his emotive vocals.

The opening title track of the EP sets the pace with some quality intricate acoustic guitar work accompanied with a solid vocal performance that shows some real promise. The real stand out track of the EP is “Winter’s Tale” a beautiful piece of work that make’s you feel and understand the pain of the song writer, in a strangely uplifting way.

Charlie recently supported ‘Levellers’ front man Mark Chadwick at Mr. Kyps in Poole and had the opportunity to join Mark on stage for the encore with a stunning version of the “Levellers” “Barrel Of A Gun” which went down really well with the excited audience, the video for this can be found further down this article. Charlie’s solo acoustic performance on the night showed some real spirit and character to what was a largely new audience to him, the review can be found http://www.thinkermusic.co.uk and Independent record shops from the 4th June.
