Bournemouth Tattoo Convention

In 2012 The Bournemouth Tattoo Convention will be four years old and to celebrate they have pulled together some of the finest tattooists that the world has to offer, as well as an entertainment line-up that will equal a great weekend in anybodies diary. Attendees of this 4th Bournemouth Convention range from ages 18 to 60 with visitors from all over the UK and beyond making the trip to Bournemouth for the event.

Tattooists
Of course, central to any Tattoo Convention are the artists themselves, the people who apply ink to skin. And you could not hope for a better line-up of talent from around the world. If you thought that one tattooist was the same as another, you would be very wrong. It’s a world of styles and techniques and if you are looking for a tattoo, it’s worth exploring your options. The Tattooists appearing this year are from as far afield as Japan as well as some of the most high profile UK and European artists. You will be able to see a full list at the website but as a taster of who will be in town, some top names include:

Bournemouth Tattoo Convention

Oddboy from Real Art Tattoo, one of the UK’s best upcoming talents. Jo Harrisson, the UK’s leading female tattooist, Dorothy Lyczeck who is flying in from the USA for the Bournemouth convention (she has cancelled!) and Tomoya Akitsu from Hori Kei in Japan. Tomoya is a traditional hand tapping tattooist and whilst in the UK he will be doing a guest spot at Indelible Tattoo Studio in Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth. So those of you who want something a little different should go to the Bournemouth Tattoo Convention website, find Tomoya under “Artists” and book in with him via his Facebook link.

Music
Specially chosen from the best of local talent, the music line-up is a varied and eclectic mix of styles, which will be spread across two stages. The Main Stage and the Gallery Bar Acoustic Stage. Throughout the weekend whether you like the laid back Roots Of ‘Coke Can Jack‘, The Blues of Harpin’ On, the Ukulele 3 piece ‘Mother Ukers’, the experimental Rock of ‘Evolver’ or the Latino Reggae vibes of ‘Pachango’ you will be catered for with 25 bands and acoustic musicians for all tastes.

Market
Those of you that want a new fashion accessory will also be catered for with a carefully selected collection of traders in original and unique fashion items and accessories. This year the traders offer retro dresses, and the accessories to go with them, as well as hand made ceramics, from Dancing Plates, Jewellery and Accessories from Miss Foo Foo Von Ladygarden and all sorts of other unique items to indulge you in the culture and lifestyle of the tattoo scene.

The Fuel Girls, Black Fire & Twisted to Fit
The Fuel Girls were, without doubt one of the entertainment highlights of last years convention, so we are extremely happy to be able to announce their return, alongside special appearances from the amazing performers of Black Fire.

The Fuel Girls and Black Fire will be creating four brand new themed shows for 2012 so those of you who know them will have something completely new to look forward to. We will see the return of aerial artists Teta, Jade and Naomi, sword dancing and tribal dance from Leah Debrincat and exciting percussion from Grandmaster Ash. There will be two new performers in the show for 2012, Aerial artist ‘Sasha’, and we are particularly pleased to announce the arrival from Japan of Yusura. Yusura became a fully-fledged circus performer when she was registered as an official Cirque du Soleil member in 2006. She was also a sought-after performer for secret events held for Hollywood stars and other celebrities visiting Japan, prompting Tim Burton to comment “Yusura is a gorgeous space alien.”, In addition to The Fuel Girls, we welcome the return of ‘Twisted to Fit’ with new Creature Creations, they will be performing as the Militant Mutants throughout the weekend.
