Dead have arrived with a bang into the UK rock scene. This five piece alternative rock band from Southampton have taken to the stage by storm and have managed to win over many fans and play Southampton Take Down alongside Lower Than Atlantis, Deaf Havana, Canterbury and Blitz Kids all within the space of 3 months, as well as appearing in magazines such as Kerrang!
Dead consist of Alex Mountford, Sam Matlock, Jake Lucas, Sam Chappell and Scott Aldred, and their sound is a combination of Taking Back Sunday and Lostprophets with hints of Young Guns, and Blitz Kids. They take to the stage professionally and their stage performance makes it near impossible to believe this band have only been together for such a short while, and the band as a whole have no troubles getting the crowd involved with the set, from jumping to clapping.
Lead singer Alex has mixture of Sean Smith (The Blackout) and Gustav Wood (Young Guns)’ stage antics including managing to wrap the microphone lead around his neck and jumping on amps and around the stage, while the rest of the band are just as energetic as they put on a damn good performance that matches their music and shows off their talent.
And these guys do have talent, and lots of it. They prove it with their unforgettable stage performances and their music that is bursting with confidence, passion and energy. For a band of 17-19 years olds who have been together for only roughly 12 weeks, there’s no doubt they know what they’re doing, and their songwriting skills come across strongly in their music.
With their catch phrase “Dead Is Very Much Alive”, Dead are one to watch, and are definitely very much alive in UK’s music scene. In the next few months, big things are expected to come Dead’s way, so make sure you keep an eye on them and get involved with the hype of Dead at their upcoming shows.
