Skinny Molly

Hell yeah! With Blackfoot blaring out of the transits stereo we headed on up the A31 to one of Southamptonís premier live music venues The Brook: good stage, good beer and damn good music. Gracing the stage was Skinny Molly and they offered up an extravaganza of pure Southern Rock.

At first glance you would think that they were a cover band judging by the amount of classic tracks they have on the setlist. But with members of the band having played in the likes of Lynyred Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Gary Rossignton Band and The Southern Rock Allstars they have a genuine claim to be able to play these songs with pride. And play they do! When we entered the Brook, they had just kicked off with a blistering version of Skynyrdís Saturday Night Special and went straight into I Know A Little without a pause. Classic Rawk ní Roll came thick and fast after that with a pounding cover of Steve Earleís Copperhead Road and a couple of their own compositionsí thown in. But the set was dominated by a host of Blackfoot and Skynyrd tracks. God damn I had a blast and would thoroughly recommend Skinny Molly to any and all fans of the Southern Rock genre.
