Terrorvision/The Breakdowns

October 7, 2011 Off By Jon

The Old Fire Station, Bournemouth

It’s Friday night, unusually warm and Terrorvision are in town. A very early start means I’ve missed most of support act The Breakdowns set. What I do hear/see is actually pretty good. Musically its Lizzy-esque with a decent vocal. They end with “High School” and receive good applause.

To my knowledge this is Terrorvision’s only appearance in Bournemouth. By now the pit area is full in anticipation of them walking onstage. The lights go down and on they stride, big grins all round-must be the South Coast air! They open with “Neighbourhood”, get the first big singalong with ‘My House’ and spark things up with “D’ya wanna go Faster”. Despite the fact theres the new LP Super Delux to plug, tonight’s set is largely culled from their extensive back catalogue. Still, the classics keep coming. “Tequila” is played early in the set while “What Makes You Tick” sees Tony encouraging the audience participation once more. His energy is infectious and knows no bounds as he constantly leaps around the stage.

New single “Pushover” is a big chorus classic in the style of old, swiftly followed by “Oblivion” which gets the pit going wild. “Middleman” gets us all singing again before the classic “Josephine” & set closer “Perseverance”. They return shortly to this crowd singing the intro to “Alice What’s The Matter” -they don’t waste any time & duly oblige & once again we go wild! No time to catch our breath as they end with “Pretend Best Friend”. Tony rewards us with a showering of beer as the band take a bow. After a one hour 40 minute set they deserve it. If tonights performance is anything to go by Bradfords finest aren’t yet ready to throw in the towel. The new material is great & the future is bright. Still the Rhythm!
