Whilst in my small room at my University in Wales, I was asked to review ‘San Francisco Bay’, which is the latest single by a band called Yellowgroove, who are a Bournemouth/Bristol based group that fork out folky blues-rock grooves that lick the ladle of bands like Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Cream, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
This track demonstrates a smooth and warm feel to the band’s sound, echoing the summery vibes of the late 60s with similarities to iconic band, The Beatles. The chorus is catchy, but not enough to wedge it into the glorified subcategory of songs which grind into you. The chorus flows through nicely between the verses and a constant chilled vibe makes this an ideal song to accompany the warm breeze on a summer evening. If you’re looking for a song to kick back, relax and reminisce of the gorgeous summer times, then blast this tune out this winter and you may not even feel the summer has passed you by.
The single is released on 24th October through Animal Farm Records.
