Voodoo Vegas

Voodoo Vegas return to headline their first hometown Show in Bournemouth for some time, the Winchester is not normally the place that you would usually find rock bands performing, after tonight hopefully this could start a new trend as their is a decent crowd hear to see tonight’s line up.

Aaron Gregory

Tonight’s opener Aaron Gregory from local band The Luminaries bravely gets up on to the stage and delivers a solid set of acoustic led numbers, Aaron has an outstanding voice but sadly he struggles to really make himself heard amongst the noise in this sort of environment.

Silent Prophecy are up next and as friends of Voodoo Vegas they are obvious choice for tonight’s main support, the band did very well in this years recent Battle for Bloodstock competition just missing out on the converted top spot. Tonight there is a very different audience and the band have to work hard to get them on their side with songs such a Collision and Break These Chains. The five piece band with Theresa’s powerful vocals coupled with the metal twin guitars provide some great entertainment with a hard rock edge not normally seen within these walls, the audience are appreciative but somehow not really in to it.

The atmosphere changes dramtically when Voodoo Vegas take to the stage, the crowd moves closer to the stage and we finally have a proper rock show on our hands. Leader singer Lawrence Case is a front man who knows just what to do when he has an audience in front of him, getting everybody involved which is what it is all about. Guitarists Meryl and Nick have their amps turned up to maximum and belt out some fantastic riffs on some great new songs such as ‘Cheeky Riff’ and yet to be named untitled one. The more well know classics such as ”Ferry Song’ and ‘So Unkind’ get the audience singing and with the hands in the air clapping along. The band leave the stage after over an hour, there are shouts for an encore but sadly the curfew had been met. A great night at one of Bournemouth’s premier live music venues, lets hope we are back there again soon for more of the same.
