CD: “The Movie: Director’s Cut” by A Poetic Yesterday
September 5, 2011A Poetic Yesterday are a four piece British Grunge Pop-Punk band from Redditch in the West Midlands who have recently released their new single “The Movie: Director’s Cut”. This four track gem provides a follow up to the band’s debut album ‘A Little South Of Zero’. The EP gives the listener with two completely angles of the lead track with electric and acoustic versions which work really well with both of the performance styles.
“The Movie: Director’s Cut” has fast paced passionately delivered vocals with guitars that pack a real punch with the track turning on it’s head mid way through with a little post hardcore style with some alternate style screamed vocals which the gives the track a great original feel.
The band have also written a track for Takedown MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) which also appears on the EP. This is a very heavy guitar and military drum style led track that sounds a little like the style of ‘System of a Down’. The chorus has a hook ‘Woooh Wooh It’s not the way that you fall down its the way you get back up’ that instantly hits that brain and stays there. If these songs can be replicated well live this band should put on one hell of a live show and the good news is that the band are planning massive 20 date tour of the UK in October check their website for detail’s to see if they will be in a town near you, as I am sure by this EP they are well worth checking out!!
