CD: “The Push”

The Push

The Push are a four piece Bournemouth band who have been making quite a name for themselves by performing at a whole host of live music venues around the Dorset and Hampshire areas, unlike most local bands just starting out the band have already recorded and released the debut self titled album. The band travelled down the coast to the Ivy Arch studios in Worthing West Sussex www.ivyarchstudios.com where they recorded nine of their own tracks along with a bonus cover of “I Fought The Law” by The Clash. This has all been done and the band are not even a year old yet, you have to give a big thumbs up to their drive and determination.

So I hear you cry “What is the album like?……………..Should we part with our four English pounds to buy a copy?” Yes I think you should. This band who have achieved so much, in so little time, can write a tune and also perform it well. They have a pop/punk garage feel to their music with loud twin guitars that generate a bright positive sounding record, songs such as “Greenworld” and the rather infectious “It’s Alright” are dynamic and have a unpolished quality about them. My only gripe is I feel the vocals are a little weak at times and could do with some addition work. This is over all a good effort and I will be loading a copy of the album on my iPod for future listening.
